I have been on Seasonale birthcontrol pill for about three months now. I have recently gotten my first cycle since being on this pill and with the normal menstural discharge was what looked like a LARGE (about the size of a golf ball) piece of tissue/skin. I have no history of being pregnant, so I do not believe it would be anything in relation to that. My cycles have been a bit on the heavier side for about a year now. Can anyone give me any insight in what may be going on and what, if anything, I should do? Thank you!

the only time this ever happened to me was after I had a baby. I hate to say it but how sure are you that you didn't have a pregnancy gone wrong? I would go to the doctor and get a check up and maybe an ultrasound. You also could have had a cyst or some other normal womanly problem....never know. Just to be sure if I were you I would at least call my obgyn and ask if it's something normal. If you don't have any really strong pains then you're most likely just fine. Never can be too sure, though. I wish you the best of luck!

Since you are only menstruating 4 times a year, your periods are just heavier than what you were used to. This is not unusual, and is nothing to worry about unless you are passing VERY large clots, experiencing severe pain, or having to change tampons or pads in less than an hour. If you feel there is real need for concern, a call to your doctor's office should put your fears to rest.

I am not sure what you mean by "tissue/skin". It is very common for blood clots during your cycle. They are often large and look like they have a "skin", but, they are a clot. I would say if there was no discomfort and your period ended normally that there is nothing to worry about, but, call your doctor's office and ask them. Good luck to you.

Jess - I am not answering your question, but just saying welcome to the dental section. It's nice to have someone who knows what they are talking about there. You are writing some very detailed, accurate and informative answers. I'm just writing to suggest that you should start to save them to a word processor so you won't have to write them out every time. You will find that people ask questions about their gums 10 or 20 times each DAY and you won't have time to answer everyone individually if you are composing your answers each time.
