It is fake in that everything is pre-scripted and the moves are designed to look cool but hurt as little as possible. The wrestlers aren't actually competing against each other, they quietly communicate their moves ahead of time to put on the best show. It does require real athleticism though.

Can people stop asking this question? It's freaking subjective. Use a dictionary if that word is too hard for you. Personally, I think it is as true as any other sport. Hell, it can be viewed as harder. Not only are you in front of a crowd of tens of thousands almost nightly, you've got to keep up with the rigorous travel schedules, autograph sessions, and checking into hotels at 3 in the morning. You don't get seasons off like other sports, either. And you perform by YOURSELF... maybe a partner, but others have an entire TEAM to depend on. It's an individual sport, and wrestling innovators like Jeff Hardy, Shawn Michaels, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Chris Jericho, etc. would definitely NOT appreciate you calling their entire careers "fake." I bet those skeptic assholes don't know just how tough it is to be under all that pressure. They wouldn't last three f*cking minutes in that ring. Sure, it's predetermined, but the FANS don't know for sure who's going to win. You enjoy it for the WRESTLING, not necessarily the result, anyway!

It is real in the sense that wrestlers do choreographed routines. There are a set number of moves that wrestlers know how to actaully do and how to get out of. So a wresteling match is really just a really complicated dance routine. not to mention wrestling is more about the fanfare than the fights themselves. it's about the rivalries between the houses more than people actually getting hurt.

The results are predetermined, but the wrestlers really do hit each other. Now, there are ways to cushion the blow, and there are some moves, such as the piledriver, that appear to hurt the other wrestler, but there are ways to make sure that they don't get the full impact of the move.

I wouldn't use the word fake. Is it known who will win??? Yes, but understand this. Do they get slammed, slapped, kicked, hit?? Yes to all the above. Therefore, it's not fake it's planned, if you would.
