The poems, horror, and detective intricacies of Edgar Allan Poe are literary masterpieces that will endure as the writings of Aristotle, Euripides, and Socrates have. No other writer has piqued romanticism, mysticism, and the macabre as Poe.
His eulogy to Annabelle Lee, his fanaticism with The Raven, and his horrific descent into The Tell Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, The Pit and The Pendulum, The Mask of the Red Death, The Fall of The House of Usher, are indicative of Poe's view of his complex, tumultous, and tortuous life.
My favorite poem by Poe is Eldorado, a man searching for his destiny, traversing through the valleys of "shadow and death". To me, this is the epitome of Poe's search in his own life for a "happy ending". Camelot.

I love Edgar Allen Poe because his stories is very tenseful and haunting. There is a special quality to his writing that will instantly hook you in.He is also credited with contributing to the emergent science fiction genre. Without him, we would not have science fiction. A good example of his wonderful writing is The Raven and The Tell-Tale Heart.

I like kicking Edgar Allen Poe, but only when I am the walrus. Otherwise, I really do like his stories. The Black Cat is awesome!

A gifted and misunderstood man - but very morbid. I understand he had a rough life, but still he's creepy. Definitely the Stephen King of his day.
And I agree with you, The Raven is one of his good poems.
(Never more!)
