I'll try my best to make suggestions, but make sure that the pieces actually look good on YOU before you buy them. Because I know a lot of people who buy the latest trends when it doesn't even look good with their style and body.
A casual blazer, the type you can wear as a jacket with jeans. A casual fabric, like plain cotton or corduroy.
Straight-leg jeans, vintage washed. Baggy and sloppy jeans are out! You don't need to go really tight and metrosexual, but straighter bootcut jeans make you look slimmer and taller.
Graphic tees are great for laying in the winter or alone in the spring.
As a New Yorker woman, I'm really liking this outfit:

I'm not saying you need to shop at Gap, I just like how their website have some pieced-together outfits.
Good luck and have fun!!

No baggy jeans well no super baggy jeans where we can see your britches its not very attractive =P it makes people want to pants ya and i feel bad for guys who where your pants all baggy. A spike belt always looks good and it always isnt "emo" and it looks great with jeans. Also a belt buckle that you like but the mud flap girl ones are just gross... Oh! band tees! they always look cool and stylish especially on guys. if you need to know about shoes skater shoes are always safe especially vans they look good and they are very comfortable and genrally run wide!
if you need any more advice email me!

i like the layered look. a white tee under another...red one. or something. no huge clothes. also, plain shirts with nothing on them that are kinda tight are REALLY nice. Nice, slightly distressed jeans. Also, horizontal striped polos in unique colors are nice.

If you wear glasses, be sure to get rimless, glare proof glasses and if your hair is thin use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner
