Right now you have to know the Passphrase to connect. It doesn't sound like you know what it is so you'll probably have to reset your wireless access point. Usually it's a matter of putting the tip of a pen in a hole on the back side of the access point for a few seconds. (You have to consult your manual for the exact details or ask a tech savvy friend, but he/she would still need the manual, otherwise it'll take a lot of time if they need to find an answer for you)

Reset it then put in the Settings from your Internet Service provider to connect to the internet again. Usually this is on the sheet of paper the technician left with you when he set up your internet connection. (You'll have to call them or look up the info from their web site if you don't have it handy)

It can be tough if you haven't done this before. But just take it 1 step at a time and you'll be able to connect at home. Check out the reference links for more info. Good luck!

It would help to know the hardware manufacture

But in most cases their all the same... if you dont have the information for your router you can get most manuals online.
It will tell you your default weblink to get inside your router:

On your home computer in the web browser type of of the addresses below:

192.168.1.1 / 192.168.100.1 / 192.168.10.1 / 192.168.10.10

These are the most common used addresses as default, if that doesnt work consult the manual you have with your unit or download one off the manufacture website

Once your at that page you will get a log in screen. If you dont know your name and password then there is a small button usually located on the back of the unit. Use a hair pin, paper clip, straight pin and hold the button in for about 10 sec. This would reset your router. You will need the instructions for default name and pw for your router now found in your info pack.

If your connecting to Cable it would be DHCP connection... Change your settings to that and you should be right in.

DSL use PPPoE and enter your name and PW for your account

The easiest to use is WEP for wireless because you only need a one word phrase to log into your network. Its a higher risk but easiest to remember. However if your in luck your router will have a mac address lock in/out. All you will need to do is find your security setting for wireless and activate it. Log into your router now with your laptop and scan for mac addresses. It should find your PC. Now lock mac address for your home PC and notebook and you should be all set. Thats the easiest way to set up a wireless network securely with little effort.

There are tons of security features in most routers today but that setup is probably the fastest and easiest one to throw at you if your not to fimiliar.

Also if your again lucky enough to own a Linksys/Cisco systems router then you can go to Linksys website and download the automated setup program and it will do all the work for you including logging into the router, configure it and be on your way.
Some other companies also have this feature.

Good luck to you!

The pass phrase that it is looking for is the encryption code for your network. the encryption code is a "password" to get logged on to a secure network, your other locations your connecting to probably are not encrypted and that's why you can get on them without the pass phrase. If you setup your network you should have the encryption code, if not you can try logging into the router via the main PC its hooked up to by opening a browser and typing in 192.168.100.1 or 192.168.100.10 (its different depending on manufacturer). If that's not an option or you don't know how to get into the router to find out what the pass phrase is then check the manual or look on the manufacturers site for how to reset the router, then be sure to reset up the encryption, cause if ya don't; anyone can get on your network and possibly cause some problems.

You have to enter the encryption code in order for the wireless to work.
