I feel that we need to take a stupidity test across america. Taking away the idiots who vote for the people that they think are the "hottest". I think it should include 5 very basic questions about U.S history and law. If they score a 0 on the test, take away their rights to vote. Simple, stop letting people whom are oblivious to politics and the current world vote. Period. Any thoughts/rants?

Even stupid people are entitled to their stupid vote

We don't have to worry about this much as apparently more stupid people vote than do intelligent people. Prime example-our country is still without a viable second option. We can vote for the person who labels themselves Democrat and then changes nothing, or we can vote for the guy labeled as a Republican who doesn't change anything. It's not a two-party system, it's just a one-party system masquerading as something else to distract us from the fact that all of the third parties out there understand our Constitution than the people who repeatedly try to change it. Obviously our current president has never read the constitution, otherwise he wouldn't be such an out of control tyrant.

I think maybe in the past Kennedy , Reagan, and Clinton may have gotten votes based on their looks, but that sure wasn't the case between Bush & Kerry. I don't know what the answer is for educating voters, there's so much apathy that we might as well let the candidates draw straws.

I can't disagree that people could inform themselves better than they do, but it's hard enough to get people to vote as it is.

In Arizona we have 13 propositions this election! I hope people are doing their homework! It took me an hour to figure out what to do & still had to check with some other politically interesteds to be sure I was reading things correctly.

Interesting, but certainly against the law. Why not mandate two years of government or military service and teach such youngsters what it means to respect and appreciate their country and how the choices made today affect the world of tomorrow. All in all, it's just another brick in the wall.

Then it would not be a democracy. Lets say there are more stupid people than smart people, do you then create a system where the minority dictate to the majority? What if the people who are smarter than you decide you are too stupid to vote?

An americans most sacred right is there right to vote. And besides you wouldn't have a whole lot of people voting if you made a test like this.

I have thought that a person should at least be able to find the state they live in on a map (that doesn't have the state names written on it), based on the belief that if a person does not even know where they are, they they really do not know anything.

I feel your pain - however:

The majority rules.

If the majority is ignorant, then society needs a serious overhaul of its educational system.

And remember, "In a democracy, the people get the government they deserve."

I get more concerned about the people who don't even bother to vote - and then piss and moan about all things political.

Lets face it - there are always going to be stupid people in this country...just look at Congress. Anyway, it's better that people vote then not at all. We may not always agree with them, but at least they're participating.

I'd have no problem with excluding people that presume that it is Unconstitutional to do anything that the UN doesn't approve of first.
