Gloria Jones recorded the original version. She was Marc Bolan (T-Rex)'s girlfriend, and was driving his purple Mini when it crashed into a tree, killing Bolan. Gloria also wrote and produced "I Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet" for 80's one-hit wonders Gonzales
