National health care would be nice. But remember it is not the business of the government . I think First we should make sure all who help themselves have health insurance. Those who do nothing to contribute to society and can get less help. Government handouts should never be a reason to be non productive.

Several governments have tried that, unsuccessfully.
Great Britain has a health care problem with people waiting weeks and months for medical care.
Canadians come to the US for medical care because the wait is sometimes lethal.
Denmark has socialized medicine and complete socialized care of all citizens, including the unemployed. However, a shirt costs $90 and jeans are over $100 a pair.
What you are suggesting is more socialization of a capitalistic republic. I suggest we stay away from socialistic programs, they did not work in the USSR, nor any other country where they have tried that experiment.
I think instead, the government should get control of the frivolous law suites being filed that are making health care costs go through the roof. If someone has a legitimate claim, they should be able to sue, but most of the lawsuits are just someone's big payday in the sky and costing all of us more than we an afford.

Naz,.... your answer doesn't even make sense - and Crescent, its not Medicare, its Medicaid and MOST honest, hard working people don't want to be on government assistance and try EVERYTHING NOT to be on it....
I have aquaintances that live in the 'wonderful' US that have parents that live in Canada and they run up to Canada to see their doctors. It is something that America doesn't offer (without leaching off of it and being made to feel like a complete deadbeat, as if asking for this 'help' through our government does't make you feel bad enough!)
There is something INCREDIBLY wrong with the world as Americans know it in the last ... lets say almost 8 years (hint/hint). We work harder, make less money, and pay more for simple things than what we are (or aren't) provided. For example, we pay more for internet service than any other county (including 3rd world countries) that have better, faster, and clearer internet services than we do when we are the country that INVENTED THE INTERNET!!!!! Shouldn't we be embarrassed by this FACT?!! It embarrasses me!!!!!
This country USED to almost make sense,... but any longer, it does NOT!!!!
Why is it that our citizens can't simply see a doctor when they have life threatening ailments? Why must it be that we must beg and probably be denied just to stay healthy in this country, anymore? If you're asking for a government that 'protects our natural rights of life, liberty, and property, well, I haven't seen that government in a number of years, if ever!!! And fainess? Sit in a courtroom ANYDAY and see how fair YOU think any 'judgements' are!! I personally have been contemplating moving to a BETTER country, myself!!!!!
In short, YES! A government that can secure something as simple as healthcare to all of its citizens is protecting the natural rights of its citizens ~~ but its not happening in THIS grand country!!!! The question I lay before you is how do you secure such things for a countries' citizens when 'whomever' is in the white house will have you arrestested, detained, and thoroughly 'questioned' for even stating what I just have stated?!!
And please, no smart assed replies out there! If you DON'T know about what is going on, then YOU are the one that is ignorant!!!!!!
Good luck in your research, for whatever purpose its for in the end~~~

No. The US government's job is to protect the country, which it does a lousy job of.
It would cost way too much. Done in the private sector for cents on the dollar.
PEOPLE DO NOT RESPECT THINGS THEY DO NOT PAY FOR.

The government makes alot of money of health care crap, alot of people take all this medicine that they don't even need, and the worst thing is when you take too much it will eventually not even work for you since your body gets used to it.

socialized healthcare just results in long waits for appts and poor care. hypocondriacs clog the system. our system though expensive to some is the best. compare earl detection rates of cancer here to those in canada where you may have to wait a few months for a visit if you find a lump somewhere

Please phrase the question the correct way.
>>Should the government forcibly confiscate its citizens' private property to provide health care for others?
"Give me free health care, or give me death!"
