Hi Stephanie,
It is not okay for an African American to call a Caucasian a "cracker". I am A. American and I deplore the "N" word. It is so degrading for anyone to use derogatory terms. I hate when I hear my own race of people call each other that word. I don't think any term that is derogatory toward an ethnic group should be used by anyone. Just keep discouraging the people around you from saying either word. Maybe soon they will catch on and filter the words from their vocabulary bank.

I hope michael g feels a lot better about himself for insulting a 12 year old girl. Can't pick on someone your own age?
To answer Stephanie's question, I agree that neither word should be used by people since both are derogatory. However, the N word carries a very sad and violent history behind it, which is why Black people are more sensitive to that word than White people are sensitive to the term "cracker".

Darling Stephanie, IT IS NOT ALRIGHT for black people to call white people crackers. However, the reason it is not considered AS hateful is because they never took hostage white people, held them in slavery, and perpetuated the myth that black is better than white. When you have a group of people that are in any kind of position of authority, ie, policemen, teachers, ministers, banks, political systems, etc. that teach or just pass on the lies and error overtly or just because so many still think that way---you see you subconciously did not capitalize the "b" in black in your opening sentence, but you did so in white, which both are just adjectives describing a color....you felt inadvertently, that white was more important! That myth continues the inequality, and most people, white and black want to do whatever it takes to make it right.

the thing that i find odd is that white people sometimes call other white people "crackers" but then, you hear rap songs ALL THE TIME with black people calling each other N-words. it doesn't make sense for it to be so terrible for a white person to call a black person the n-word, and then that blacks can use that word as often as they like.
if someone ever calls you something like that, tell them it's not okay, because you know it's not. just try to avoid using any terms like that; it will rub off on people if you use good language. i find myself talking like the people around me at any given time.

I wish michael g feels plenty bigger approximately himself for insulting a 12 yr historic woman. Can't opt for on anyone your possess age? To reply Stephanie's query, I agree that neither phrase will have to be utilized by men and women because each are derogatory. However, the N phrase consists of an overly unhappy and violent historical past at the back of it, that is why Black men and women are extra touchy to that phrase than White men and women are touchy to the time period "cracker".

I like crackers too, especially with cheese. I'm white and would not be offended by a black person calling me a cracker. I think it's funny as hell.

It comes from the times when owners cracked the whip at slaves out in the fields. That's a cracker.
It has *nothing* to do with being Floridian or soda crackers-white skin color.
So it makes reference to caucasians abusive towards African Americans

Yep, you are so accurate. Even adults don't have as much good common sense as you do. In the Bible it says a child will lead us. Just goes to show that children have more brains then adults. You are a good person. Keep on thinking like you do and someday, you will be known to be a special person. Take care and may God bless you, Always.
