the short, sweet, and to the point version is: The giy's wife dies in a car crash. So he meets this guy who 'communicates with the people who've passed on', aka, talks 2 dead ppl. :) So when that guy is killed by spirits, the guy goes to a psychic. She gets freaked out when she sees something in her vision or something. So he decides to take matters into his own hand despite her strong advice not to. So he sets up this machine in his hosue and sees people on it. He eventually figures out that whomever he sees on the tape is going to die unless he saves them. So he and this other chick he meets at the psychic guy's place, get to be bestest friends. lol. They are working together to get a message from his dead wife. The girl gets super-freaked out because she saw herself on the tape.
