For example if the home team was winning in the 7th game of the playoffs 2-1 and it started raining during the top of the 6th inning hard enough to stop the game, would they win like in the regular season or would they need to play all 9 the next day?

No the game must be played until there is a winner...no rain-out in baseball. They will re-schedule or wait it out to finish the game. I can tell you one thing...the Tigers are waiting to see who we are going to play in the WORLD SERIES! Wa-hoo....let's party like it 1984!!!! GO TIGERS!!! In the normal season it's a rain-out after the 6th during the playoffs and World Series they must finish the game.
