What is the life expectancy of a tuckpointing job in Chicago? We are assuming that the work on this 80 year old building was done in a first class manner.Any ideas of cost?

like stucco s/b forever... if painted, just re paint

the mortar is subject to weather, freeze & acid rain, stucco in florida , over conc. block, painted , last forever! the paint lakes the beating, protecting the masonry... a good sealer may be in order, prevent water infiltration & you probably slow deterioration by 90+ %!!!

there's a point when damage is estimated by the depth of a cut made by a makita 4'grinder used to scarify the first half inch of old material out of the mortar slots, but only where it needs it. putting in mud isn't going to stayif it's not done right, but it's how much of the hand time is down to get it prep-ed and readied, acid etched and washed slow stuff,sounds expensive
