Spybot is free, I don't know what you paid for. Also spybot is not a popup blocker, it's a spyware and adware detector and deleter. Whatever you have has got to be something else. I would remove it immediately through Add/Remove programs in your control panel and the aol thing if you're not using it. I would also recommend downloading CCleaner as it will delte unwanted and unused items out of your registry and works right along woth your recycle bin. I would also suggest that if you're using something like Norton or McAffee then you stop using those, cuz they suck. I use Zonelabs Zone Alarm and man is it easier, less annoying and works better and has 3 types of firewalls and antivirus too. You can download CCleaner at http://www.download.com and do a search for it. Zone Alarm has a free trial you can download from http://www.zonealarm.com if you like it, after 15 days you can purchase it. I also suggest that you find the real Spybot S&D program at download.com along with the CCleaner.

First, print this stuff I am typing here so you can read it while not on the Yahoo Answer page. You will need to read this.
Go to green START button on bottom left of screen. Click it. A large window will open. Look for the words CONTROL PANEL and click that. Another window will open. Look for the words ADD OR REMOVE programs. Another window will open. It will tell you to WAIT WHILE THE LIST POPULATES. Wait like it says. When LIST is done, look for AOL listed as one of the programs. CLICK IT, then CLICK CHANGE/REMOVE. It will put up many more windows asking if you are sure, etc. Keep CLICKING NEXT OR YES. A thing called A WIZARD will take over your computer and show AOL being removed. When the wizard is done, IT WILL PUT A WINDOW UP TO TELL YOU IT IS FINISHED.
Look at your computer screen. The POPULATED LIST will still be on it. Scroll down to SPYBOT and CLICK IT. Once you click SPYBOT, THEN CLICK CHANGE/REMOVE. The whole thing will happen again: A WIZARD will remove SPYBOT.
Then shut down your computer and start it again.
Problem should be solved.
Good luck from me, my senior parents' free tech support :)

We really don't know what you bought. I am glad you are getting tech support. If you and they can get it working .. more power to you.
If you cannot get it working, you may have to pay someone about $100 to get it off and put on the real spybot.
I would strongly suggest you also in addition to spybot .. try one of the free anti virus programs. some were mentioned above. I know about AVG and AntiVir guard.
I have had little problems w/ my computer since I put on the free spybot and antivir.
good luck!!!

sounds liek your computer will still work fine without the program. The pop up blocker shouldn't put AOL on your computer but might be a part of AOL software. If you are concerned still, just go to control panel, click on add/remove programs, scrool down and select spybot, and uninstall it, and try to get your money back. I wouldn't recommend buying a spyware program. adaware has never let me down and it is free.

Awww shucks, Nora.
Pity of it all is that you haven't told us the actual name of the "Spybot" that you bought.
There's an AntiSpyware Package called SpyBot S&D but it's free and the only thing that they ask for, at the site, is for your support by way of donations! So, you see, it's quite confusing when you say you "bought" a SpyBot.
Now, the pop up blocker, also, is something that you can get free with AntiSpy when you install the free of cost downloadable Yahoo Toolbar! So how did you get one that has this AOL "Agreement" is beyond me.
Anyhow, now let's see if we can get a remedy, instead of dwelling in the past about this, shall we?
First of all, Nora, could you please go to Start and click on it? Now, go to All Programs and click on it. Please see if you can see the SpyBot that you bought there and, if you do, please click on it. In the menu that opens there next to the name, see if you have the Uninstall Option and, if you do, please click on it. You'll get a box pop up asking are you sure that you want to uninstall it, where you'll please click Yes or Uninstall, as the case may be.
Now, if [a] the name and icon of the SpyBot isn't to be found or [b] the icon and name of the SpyBot is there, but there's no Uninstall function to be found; don't panic! We can still get rid of it.
In this event, you go to Start and click on it. Go to Setting or Control Panel and click on it. Go to Add/Remove Programs and click on it. In the list that populates itself, search for the SpyBot and click on it and then click on the Remove button to the right.
Sometimes, these things are registered in the name of the Company, instead of in the Product, so, when you are searching for it, look at that option as well.
Now that you've removed it, please click on this link that I'm providing and download the SpyBot S&D free of cost. It's http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html
Also, download and install the Yahoo toolbar from http://toolbar.yahoo.com/
Now, finally, to protect you better, free of cost, please download ansd install Avast AntiVirus from http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
It's got a great Resident Protection Program that scans your email, messenger and so on and so forth; and is free of cost to the jome user. Please register using the free of cost Registration where you'll need to give them your e-mail where they'll send the Product Key Code, free of cost at http://avast.com/i_kat_207.php?lang=ENG#register-form
Also check out the kind of skin you'd like to have for your Avast at http://avast.com/eng/skins.html and download and use the one you like.
With these things, you'll have got rid of your problem and will still be having the benefit of total protection against virus and spyware etc, free of cost!
All the very best.
Cheers

I am confused; spybot is free, did you get the real thing?
Can you reinstall? That is a hassle and will delete your data, but it will certainly clean up the problem.
Otherwise, if you can give some more information on your problem I (we) can try to help. Have you tried a help forum? Spybot help and support and forums can be found at http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html

I think you might have been conned. You don't need to buy Spybot, it's a free download.
http://www.safer-networking.org/
If you don't have an antivirus you should download Avast
http://www.avast.com/
Another good anti spyware is Ad-aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
You can download as many anti spywares as you like, but don't get 2 anti-viruses
Also you could try Arovax shield, it stops things installing on your pc that you don't want
http://www.arovaxshield.com/
A-squared free is another good program too
http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/
I hope this is some help to you
