By default, I think it saved his life...
They killed the first Kennedy, John...
and then the next one, Robert (who was predicted to win by a landslide), when he was considered...
Ted was in a car accident where the vehicle went over a bridge and a passenger died...
( I wasn't there... I don't know who caused it... But, I have been in an roll-over where the driver went into shock, got his bell rung hella hard without leaving a mark, and was not much there, coherently, for quite a while afterwards... a day later and for the following years he was just as clear as he ever was... ironically.) As far as I know, because of this, he is still alive.
And more recently, JFK Jr., who for the most part was not pursuing a political career, but could, and would also win by a landslide against anyone... ever... regardless of whatever party he chose to represent... providing Jesus didn't throw his thorny crown into the ring.
(BTW... the entire "accident", a fatal plane crash, reeks and is surrounded by amazing details.)
So, no... a think a democrat, especially a Kennedy, or any landslide ringer, is a dead man walking.

If it had been a VW that floated. They don't all float having heard various stories I've learned some sank like rocks and some you could drive around a pond for awhile and then back on dry land. Of course with his money he wouldn't have had a big hole in the pan like all the rest of us under the battery.
But woulnd't he have found another way to screw up?

Plus, if she woulda lived what about all the gossip and rumors she coulda started? The we woulda known he was drunk.
