Absolutely not! I know a couple of women who are in my sorority who were not in the traditional age group when they joined our organization. One of them was in her 30's and the other was in her late 50's! I think that in order to join any sorority that the primary thing that has to apply is something that you said...the sorority has to exemplify something within you. You and the sorority have to have something(s) in common for it to be a good match.
Besides, being in a sorority is a decision that will be with you for the rest of your life. The experiences that you have as a member will build memories and friendships that you will never be able to forget! So wanting to join one is more than a social decision, but a decision of a pathway, a rite of passage, if you will....and there is never an age limit on making choices that will be able to positively effect your life.
So...GO FOR IT!!!!!! I wish you all the luck in the world!

No, I don't think that you are too old to join a sorority. I also agree that many organizations are geared towards social efforts and the popularity contests versus the "real" point which in most cases is service. However, once you join you have to make your experience worth while, and you will probably find others who feel the same as you do.

My name is Dawn and I want to go back to school for an elementary teacher. I want to pledge since I never did when I graduated high school. I am 43 years old and thought long and hard about doing it and would I feel funny on being in my 40's and getting a bachelor's degree as well as pledging and everyone looking at me saying this old women wants to be in our sorority and making us look bad. Its not about that and proving a point. Even though i'm not young and I made mistakes its never to late to want to go back. Also I have 3 cousins the pledge and said that once I receive my degree let them know 2sisters pledge Sigma Gammo Rho and 1 that pledge Alpha Kappa Alpha told me to also let her know. Me I would rather go through everything as if I was young again to accomplish it by myself. Also experience my journey on my own.

You're never too old to join one, as long as you're still in college you can join and it's not like you're 43 (even then you could join if you're in college, you'd prolly just get looked at funny). But 23 is NOT that serious! Go ahead, join and have fun!! Screw everybody else that tries to change your way of living. If they try and make you change or conform, don't join cuz A. It's not worth losing your identity and B. They don't deserve you then.

Now I am a Delta Zeta alum and I would not think you are too old when considering whether to offer you a bid. I think you should go for it. In fact, the year I pledged with a gal about that age from what I remember.

it depends. If you let people judge you by what you decide to do, then it wont turn out good. But if you do what you want to, you almsot guaranteed will be mocked by some. If you let it egt to your head, youll start getting insecure about yourself. Its up to you. Society is no longer correct. Right and wrong is judged by those around you, which may not necessarily be correct.

there might be a Christian sorority you could join.
I wouldn't worry about the age difference. 23 is still young.
