Will the advertising constitute copyright infringement where the TV show is concerned?

Your site can be centered on whatever you want. Unless you are distributing copyrighted material, you aren't doing anything wrong.

There are basically only 2 reasons to have a web site. Either you wish to run an e- commerce business, or you want to store personal information.

A personal information storage website might be where you keep photos. Music files, videos, games, and a host of other files can take up a lot of room on your home computer. Storing those files on your personal web site saves space and keeps your computer running smoother and faster. There is no great concern for promoting your personal web site. You may wish to share some of it with friends, but you aren’t really concerned with seeking visitors. As for it’s design and structure, that is totally up to it’s creator. As that person is going to be visiting the web site on a regular basis. There are so many web site hosting services that have very easy to follow programs for creating your site just the way you want it. And often times you can get free web hosting. You can also save yourself the expense of a domain name.

Any web site that offers something for sale, whether it be a service or a product, is an e- commerce web site. The specific content of an e- commerce web site can vary greatly in design and structure. By signing up with any one of hundreds of providers, you can set your web site up to accept payments by credit card. You can create a display for the items or services offered. And you accept the responsibility of promoting your web site. What good would an e- commerce web site be if no one even knows it is there.

asking for donations is not necessarily commercial, but selling is. so decide what type of business you want, profit or non-profit. register your non-profit within your state for other business benefits. check info at sba.gov/search starting a business.
