Just put your operating system cd (probably windows) in the CD-ROM drive and boot from the CD. (You may have to edit your BIOS settings to allow this). Next follow the directions on the CD to install the operating system. During the installation it will format your hard drive.

You're actually ready to reformat the drive. If you have XP Home or Professional on your machine, you should be able to turn your machine off and then restart it while quickly putting the cd in the drive. Just before booting into windows, it will tell you to hit any key to start by using the cd. Hit any key quickly and it will pull up the main menu on the disk, where you'll have the option to either repair your present copy of windows or to completly format the drive and the re-partition it and then install a fresh new copy of windows onto the drive. You'll of couse lose all of the info that you now have on the drive but sometimes that best. Great Question, Larry
