I just learned how to swim this swimmer (It was my first time) and now they're going to have a meeting for anyone who is interested in swimming (I'm a freshman in high school). I took volleyball in the fall season and hated it, so I would really like to find a sport that's right for me. I'm not sure if I should try swimming because I just started. Should I go for it?

you should go for it

swim is so fun

ok and for hte person who sadi dont because you will get stuck in lower lanes ill giv eyou this: my personal experience

when i was 10 i used to be a really good swimmer in my state. i would get 16, 10, 20 in state meets and i was swimmign with the really good swimmer
but when i turned 11 i sort of was burn out

i had been swimmin since i was 9
and my sister who was 10 at the time started to became really good. it put me down, and she started getting better tiems then me
so i sort of stopped swimming
i would go to practice one a week and i still swam with the kids who ewre good, but i saw myslef slipping, they were getting better an di was staying
i turned 12 and it continued, execpt this year they all moved to another lane the next one up an di was left it lik lane 2. i once again slacked off

but i took a season off

i came back and yes im in hte slow lane
but i work hard
jsut cause it hte slow lane dons tmean you bad

ive learned it from experience

my whole team does the same practice just how fast we go vary's

see you shoudlnt not go for something

workin hard will get you there

i hoep you go for it
because you swim freinds are forever
you with them all the tiem
and htey see you when you dont get
the time you wnated and when you beat your tiem

i woulnt trade my swim life for anything

i hope this helps

and i hope you go for the swim team

Go for it!! I'm Freshman too and I did swimming and had fun except for my phsyco coaches... I had only been swimming for like two years so no worries! Try out or join or whatever it would be a good way to stay in shape.

i would say dont, just because it pretty much sucks having to swim in the slow lanes, they dont let you swim as much because of varsity, and basically it is a sport that wont get you very far in life. im sorry if this puts you down but i did it and now i feel like it was a waste of money. its sure fun for about first two weeks but then it gets hard and waste of time.

Swimming is a great sport. You can learn fast with good coaching. You should talk to the coach and if it feels right go for it!
Most swim teams usually always need team members anyway! Good luck!

it depends, do you think your good? can you do more than just the freestyle or front crawl?
heres a test. swim 4 laps, (100 yards) and if you can do that in under 2:00 go for it! i will tell you, you will be very likely the slowest one on your team, but you will get better with practice.
If you decide not to, keep practicing and try next year!

Absolutely, go for it. High school swimming is different from other swim teams and are often made up of people who have never competed as well as those who have been swimming all their life. Go for it and have fun!
