You need a "stereo-mini male to male analog audio" cable.

The cable has one end that is two male plugs, standard size, and one red, one white plug. The other end is a stereo mini male plug that has two bands around the metal plug. It looks like a headphone plug for a walkman.

Plug the stereo-mini end of the cable from "headphone out" to left-right analog audio (red/white standard) "Input" whatever input is available (aux, vcr, md, dvd).

Look at Radio Shack for this piece near the walkmans and accessories. Ask a clerk to help you. If they don't have what you're looking for, use a "mini-headphone extension" and a "Mini-female to standard male analog audio Y-splitter. Somply connect the mini-female end of the Y-splitter to the mini-male extention cable, and Voila!

Keep in mind the length of cable you'll need to reach your stereo jacks, while keeping in mind a safe place to set your laptop. You will need at least 6', so the extension cable might work out best for you.

Depends, but I am guessing that (if you home stereo is decent enough) it should have a mini plug for external input.

Just go to radio shack and tell them that you want a mini-male to mini-male...and tell them the length (6 feet and 10 feet are the standards).

If you stereo doesn't have any such thing or if it is being used and if it has the two (white and red) connections, then go to radio shack and tell them you want a mini-male to dual-RCA-male and they will know exactly what you mean.

After that, you will know what to do!

You can get a headphone to AV adapter online, or at radio shack if you have one near you. You take the line out or headphone jack from the soundcard, and connect it to the aux. input on your stereo amplifier, which is hopefully what the AV cable ports are labeled.
