Both my kids did this. They started drooling like crazy around 2-3 months of age- but they weren't teething yet. Well, at least no teeth were coming in. Sometimes, my son just wore a diaper and bib to help keep the drool from causing rashes. Mostly, just pay attention to your child's behavior- meaning, if he doesn't seem to be acting sick, he's probably not.

My son did the same around that age. so bad he got bad rashes on his face. And a month and a half later, his first teeth came through. I notice now, that he still drools a LOT when teeth are coming through- goes through stages of no drool, to lots when the teeth are trying to break through. he also puts his hands in his mouth- feeling the teeth, but not sucking on his fingers... sometimes it is because he is in pain. I wouldn't worry, you will probably see some teeth here shortly, give it a month or two. we always had to leave a bib on our son because he drooled so much. Goodluck! Our son hasn't done so well with teething- waking up in the middle of the night a lot, not eating enough during the day because of the pain, but wanting to eat at night too. He would scream in pain too- so sad! Tylenol was the only thing that helped him. Sometimes the teethers you freeze will help-popsicles, any teething toys.... baby orajel didn't work for him at all.... we took many walks which helped - the second we go outside when he's fussy, he stops crying!

Ok, hope this helps some!

You know when babies dribb;es and drools right a way everybody says teething. Yes babies do all that as a part of teething however that is not the only time they do that. At about 3 months they start and it goes on till God knows when. It is a part of healthy development. Now you will know when excatly they are teething, because drooling won't be the only sign. They will scream, try to bite everything. They won't sleep for so long, will grab everything and put in their mouth and grind or bite and so on.

My daughter who is now 7 months old started the same thing when she was 2 months old. Every body kept saying oh my God she is going to have her teeth so young. Nope she is still teethless :).

Like I said there is nothing wrong with what is happenning to your baby. Although I do not know the exact reason for it, I believe they are starting learn how to swallow to get ready to eat solids and because they don't know how to do it yet everything in their mouth just comes out.

Well good luck with the baby :)

He'll dribble and drool at that age because he's teething. Hands in the mouth is a normal response to the process. Really at that age everything goes in the mouth so careful of what he picks up.

My child was a drool factory. We went through at least 4 bibs a day until he was a year old and through the worst of the teething. Not much you can do about that. 4 oz. at a time doesn't sound like much for a 5-month old. Is he on target with his growth? You might talk to you dr. about that one.

Babies will actually begin the teething process by drooling and putting their fingers in their mouth 2 months before they ever get a tooth. A tooth is on its way.

Yeah he is teething. It is not necessarily painful but teething causes the gums to itch a lot and tingle. You might want to let him suck on a cold towel or get him some baby anbesol and rub some on his gums. He will be fine once the teeth break through. My daughter was about the same age when she got her first tooth.

Its normal. 4 months is the appropriate age to start teething and shoving things in the mouth. be careful about small objects as they may be a choking hazard.

Yup, it sounds like he is teething alright. That is a precursor to teething, along with, but not always, having a rashy bottom and fever.

To ease his pain, you can cut a rag into several pieces, put under cold water and place in freezer. Then, take out of freezer and put under faucet to soften, then give to your baby to chew on. I did this with both my twins.

Hope this help you... :-)

My four month old has been doing that since she was 2 1/2 months. Still no teeth are coming out, and she is not complaining...So I guess she just enjoys that! They have discovered their hands!! ;)
