I'm am driving about 8-9 hours out of my home town and I was just wondering if there are some significant things that I should do to my car before driving it so far?

Check the air in the tire's
Check all belt's and hoses
check your air filter
change your fuel filter
change your oil/filter
have your brake's checked
check tranny fluid

If the car has over 100k miles you might change plugs/wire's

You should be able to pull into your local dealership and get them to check it over while doing an oil change. Most dealer's will do this at no cost to the customer.Tell them where/how far you are going and any recent maintenance on the car.

i own a repair shop, and i can tell you a few good things to check, first check and make sure the oil is good and doesn't need changed on it,second check all the fluid levels in it,even the wiper fluid in it,also check tire pressure, and battery cables and the air filter ,also make sure all your lights are working on it, if it has any out replace them before you leave, also clean the mirrors ,and the glass real good so you have a clear view of what your doing when driving, also make sure you tuck some extra gas money away some where in it, just in case, and make its small bills ,a lot of stations wont accept anything over a 20 after certain hours, if you have done all of this and feel confident your car is in good shape, you can enjoy the trip a lot better, good luck to you,i hope this help,s

When I go on trips like these I usually am due for a new oil filter and oil change, so I get that done and I rotate the tires at the same time, and check the air pressure on the tires. If the vehicle is older, you may want to look under the hood to see if anything needs obvious attention (leaks, rubber hoses, etc)

I would check your oil only if your car is older. I would check the air in your spare tire. Do NOT use a "donut" spare tire; invest in a full size one. Check your tire pressure and put a can of Fix A Flat in your trunk. Take a tire gauge. If you have any problems with your car, such as a fuel pump you know is bad, just buy a spare and place it in your trunk. Try placing a pair of gloves (latex, just in case), some rags, and a gallon of water in your trunk also.

Check your wipers and have them replaced if they don't work extra well.

One last thing: if you haven't had your tires inspected, make sure the tread on them is not worn. Even a rotation of your tires at a good quality chain, Discount Tire, for example, would help.

Check all the fluids, the tire pressure and the tread on the tires. Nothing more annoying than having the radiator overheat on the highway.

i would say get everything checked out, like the motor, tires, see if there is anything that needs to be done, just take the baby to the doctor for the check up and see what medicice you'll need.
