Bifocals are good as they allow for far and near distance. The reading lenes (those for near distances) are incorporated into the lower part of the glasses to allow that. However, details at intermediate distances e.g. reading off prices of items on supermarker shelves, will nto be clear. Is his vision blurry throughout? Or just when he's looking at an intermediate distance? This is a problem with bifocals.

It takes a couple days to get used to any prescription if there has been a major change. Having first bifocals is a really big change!

First, go back and make sure the glasses are adjusted right. Then give it a day or so. If it still isn't right, go back to the doctor.

Whe you get a new prescription eyeglasses it will take your eyes a few days to become accustomed to them. Your eyes ...although they were not seeing perfectly before were accommodating the best they could to TRY to see. Your body has no messaging system that it can just notify to instantly turn off the accommodation it has been giving you...so when you get glasses...your eyes need and adjustment period before they LEARN to stop overaccommodating for you. be patient and wear them a little each day until you adjust ...you'll notice that the time you can wear them increases each day ...until pretty soon they have become very comfortable and you'll notice that you see a lot worse without them than you did before you got them...that's because the accomodation has decreased or turned off.

If there is a BIG change in the prescription from his last one .. that can cause headaches and some blurriness when you turn your head quickly. You can bring your new prescribtion for the glasses to any eye store and they can double check that the lenses were made correctly. Good Luck ! :)

Bifocals are a whole new world. It takes time to get used to anything new. If it continues to be bothersome, ask him/her to check the lens curve. The measurement COULD BE slightly off.
