It concerns me that there education in North America and the UK has deteriorated severely. At the high-school level, I see superficial and poorly executed work being given high marks.
One consequence is that Universities are dumbing down: they are unable to train people to do the jobs that need doing. That, in turn, means complex jobs are being filled by immigrants from countries whose education has not yet deteriorated so far.
Another consquence is that public discussion around such matters as pollution, war, and public spending, occurs at only the most trivial level. And so those in power can pretty well do whatever they want.
The solutions are to (1) revamp the education faculties that teach the teachers, (2) to severely curtail the power of the teachers' unions, and (3) make it much easier to create alternatives, such as charter schools and voucher programmes.

This asks YOU to think of something that you would like to change in society. Surely there is SOMETHING you would ENJOY looking into, more than just being spoon-fed here someone else's agitation?
What 'calls you out'. Topical issue where I live is 'can it ever be right to sack a Muslim woman for wearing the full veil?' A teacher has been sacked for it. Some people say the veil cuts her off from integrating with the rest of society. Others would say so what, we're a multicultural society. If it's OK for an employer to demand you not wear the veil, what about the hijab? (In France, the hijab is banned in schools.) What about the Sikh turban? What about a necklace with a Christian cross on it? (You can't wear one of those in a French school either.) Where does society draw the line? Discuss.
Or you might prefer to talk about violence among teenagers. Is there too much? Should we ban violence on TV? Or at least on children's TV? Is the pot calling the kettle black if we do that but still send troops to Iraq to kill people? And what about police violence when arresting people? Or is the issue best tackled by teaching love, peace, harmony, compassion, truth, and moral discernment in primary schools?
What about respect for nature and the environment? Do we generate too much rubbish, if so what can be done about it? Do we care about wildlife?
What about the elderly? Do people die with dignity? How lovingly do we look after our old folks?
Or maybe you care about poverty? Is there a gap between the rich and the poor in your city, country, world? Is it a problem to you? If so, what can be done about it?
Or, or, or, or, or...... Back to the question. What concerns you???
