I have pared down my books and donated those I know I no longer need. Now I am left with a lot of technical reference books just in case. A lot of the books I own interested me years ago and now I wouldn't even bother to check them out of the library.

I have about 10 books on plants, 10 books on astrology, and 10 books on old hobbies such as physics and music theory.

you are saying that you want to keep these books though for future reference. bookshelves that are packed with old books usually look aweful to me. I have all my books in a couple storage benches in my games room. I have a friend that has a bookshelf built in to the wall. the cool thing is that it has a door that is actually shelves too. You close the door hide the old books (which are like yours...home reno books and different hobbies)
Any ways the shelves on the outside of the door are filled with knick knacks....you'd never know there were all those books behind it. Oh !! it was an old closet....they built shelves in it and organized their books then made this door.

Is there a used book store in your area? The book store I go to, I take books in and get credit and then look for books I want. I love that place. I can spend hours just looking around!

Here's their website, just to look at.

Why don´t you organize a "book exchange " party with some of your friends ... that way you can get rid of those books you won´t read and maybe get some new interesting ones... : D
