Lee Harvey Oswald.
Jack Leon Ruby (born Jacob Rubenstein on March 25?, 1911 – January 3, 1967) was a Dallas nightclub owner, who murdered Lee Harvey Oswald on November 24, 1963, two days after Oswald was arrested for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He changed his name to Jack Leon Ruby in December 1947.
Ruby (also known as "Sparky," reportedly because of his short temper) frequently carried a handgun, and witnesses saw him with a handgun in the halls of the Dallas police headquarters on several occasions after President Kennedy's assassination and arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald on November 22, 1963. In addition, it is known that Ruby impersonated a newspaper reporter and was at the police station on the night of November 22, though the reason he went there is unknown.
Ruby received international attention when he shot and fatally wounded the 24-year-old Oswald on Sunday, November 24, 1963, at 11:21 AM CST while authorities were preparing to transfer Oswald by car from police headquarters to a nearby jail. Millions of viewers saw the shooting on television. It marked the first live broadcast of a homicide in television history.
When Ruby was arrested immediately after the shooting, he told several witnesses that his killing of Oswald would show the world that "Jews have guts," that he helped the city of Dallas "redeem" itself in the eyes of the public, and that Oswald's death would spare Jacqueline Kennedy the ordeal of appearing at Oswald's trial. Later, however, he claimed he shot Oswald on the spur of the moment when the opportunity presented itself, without considering any reason for doing so. The weapon used by Ruby was a snub-nosed Colt Cobra .38 with the serial number 2744 LW.

TMLeaf Fan had shoot down the answer bulls eye to the point. Anyway, just some augmentation:
Jack Ruby who was: an errand boy for Al Capone, a "union organizer" and "secretary" for a local branch of the Scrap Iron and Junk Handlers Union in Chicago1937-39, a U.S. Air Force server during world war II, guns runner to the followers of Fidel Castro in 1957-58, supplier of arms to the anti-Castro Cubans during the 1950s-1963, and a nightclub owner had gunned down President Kennedy's assassinator Lee Harvey Oswald on Nov. 24, 1963.
Jack Ruby fatally shot Lee Harvey Oswald once in the stomach, in the basement of a Dallas police station, where he was being transferred to the County Jail. Ruby had walked down a car ramp to get to the basement, even though the narrow entrance to the car ramp was guarded by a police officer.Oswald died at Parkland Hospital.
Jack Ruby was brought to trial for the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald and was convicted and sentenced to death in 1964. In 1966, the judgment of death was reversed by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and he was granted a second trial but he died in 1967 from the effects of galloping lung cancer before his second trial could begin. He claimed that he had been injected with cancer.
On the other hand, Lee Harvey Oswald was a man at the center of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Oswald was a man with a complicated events in his life - being a marine who was court martialed twice then released from active duty, a man who attempted suicide, someone who was closely surveiled by KGB in Moscow, married to a certain Marina Nikolayevna Prusakova in Finland, arrested in altercation passing out Fair Play for Cuba leaflets, travelled to Moscow, Minsk, and Mexico, killer of President Kennedy and finally shot by mafia-associated (?) Jack Ruby. All his life was full of "action" very typical as of the theme of various movie plots. Amidst all the chronology of events in his life, his involvement in Kennedy's assassination could had him the lone gunman, a co-conspirator, or totally innocent, who knows?â¥
