there is no rational logical reason explanation for me being that way! yet i am accutely rightiously opposed to it being around me!

my reaction is purely moral and has nothing to do wth 'health' or 'smell' concerns - it is pure control and rightiousness issue! Like, it is BAD to smoke and people who smoke are bad and they SHOULDN'T smoke!

I just don't understand where this graceless venomous attitude comes from!!

I thought at first you already had enough answers to your query; then I read them, & relized you were getting a lot of garbage! A few people came close, but you need to hear from one of those horrible people - a SMOKER!! Yes, I am one of the last, living smokers in the northern hemisphere of what waas once the free world. If pressed, I must admit I am not smoking presently, because I am staying with my oldest son & daughter-in-law, & they don't want smoke around: My d-in-law is allergic. Much like Christians, smokers have been categorized as ignorant, thoughtless, prejudiced and self-centered. One would be quite rational to dislike this type of individual. Of course, such generalizations are almost ALWAYS OVERSTATED, and grossly UNFAIR, but, hey, we need someone to be prejudiced against without seeming like OAFS, so why not pick on an already unpopular group? And what are some of the main causes of prejudice? Jealousy, envy, a lack of personal self-esteem!?! When people do what they want, even if what they want goes against public opinion, we find them easy to hate, simply because they dare to go against those forces who tend to have a certain amount of control over the rest of us. We wish we had the chutzpah to go against the grain, buck the system, take back control of our own lives. But since we can't, we must ostrascize those who do, for our own self-esteem. So you see it isn't smokers per se, who you hate. It's those who dare to step outside the box! P.S., When I get back into my own place, I intend to smoke again, & that's because I want to, not because I have to. But I am old enough & intelligent enough to make my own decisions, & I do show consideration for others, so it is my decision to make!

I am, but that's because I'm an intelligent human, not because I'm Christian. Marijuana is NOT good for your body. (I'm not against medical uses, but recreational use is really bad for you.) Happy, I did a lot of research on Marijuanna at one point, so I am WELL informed about it. One joint is the equivilent of 16 cigarettes to your lungs. THC collects in the pleasure centers of the brain and take years to leave. People who quit marijuanna often suffer years of depression as a consequence. It lowers sperm count. And there's a lot more...

If you feel emotionally about something, it could be that your parents didn't smoke or one smoked and the other constantly reminded you of the health advantages of not smoking!

Plus, smoking is Psychologically Addictive. That means the person smoking can not consider going without his daily hit of nicotine and will react rudely when confronted by a person who does not smoke.

because your a jerk!
of course you have a right not to smoke and be around it...
Quit being so sanctimonious and do something else with your life than trying to change others because they do somethinig you hate..
by the way...
I am an EX-SMOKER...I'm glad I quit but I don't go around whining to others that still do!
also ETS dangers have been scientifically debunked as a load of B.S.!!

i don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to stay away from second hand smoke. however, i don't think that you should hate people who smoke. if you have a coworker that smokes, just ask him/her not to smoke whenever you're around. and yes, smokers smell bad all the time because when they smoke those chemicals cling to their clothes. we just have to deal with it. if you really don't want to get second hand smoke, just don't hang around it so much. anyway, my point it there is nothing wrong with not wanting to get second hand smoke, but just don't hate people who smoke. it's wrong to hate someone just because they smoke.

It's OK, I am too! I can't stand it, all the commercials and money that people have donated towards advertising seem to have done NOTHING. I am always happy to see one of thoses Wdafxup (sp?) commercials/ads.

Because it's incredibly gross and the smell gets on you and on your hair and they smell like it and the smell is gross.

That's why I hate going to bars - that nasty smoke!

It is disgusting, and your survival instincts kick in. Their presence is unhealthy, so unconsciously they may trigger a rejection in you
