Hey I have a class discissuion coming up, and one of the questions is "why is israel so important to the U.S?". I have searched and searched the internet and I can;t find a really good answer. Help please, i'm open to all answers.

Because Isreal is the only democracy and light of sanity in the middle east, thats why.

They're the only country in that part of the world that is a true democracy, has laws that give equal rights to all citizens, even religious minorities, and an independent judiciary.
All the other countries around there are dictatorships or one-party states, that all persecute religious minorities.
If we oppose Israel then we're taking the side of such bad guys against a good guy and it's very hard to defend doing so, at least in our culture.

Israel is the only UN member that has a 100% allegiance and voting record with the US. Israel has never voted against the US on anything. That is loyalty and friendship not even Canada, the UK, or Australia can say they have.
Historically speaking any culture or nation that has made an enemy of Israel has suffered for it.

Okieboy is dead on, and the fact that for the entire history of mankind the Jews have been mistreated by the rest of the world (mainly Europe).
Or you could go with the idea that since the USA was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs, it is prophesied that the Jews would return to Israel right before the end of times.

Israel is the only one capable of taking care of the middle east if they are attacked in a major way.We need them and they need us and they have been true allies to us just as the UK.Israel are not aggressors and will not attack,again,unless they are.

Because we feel responsible for not doing something earlier during WWII that could have saved Millions of Jews.

I didnt see any connections why is it important. maybe the officials of both country has deep friendship since childhood days.
