Every time I'm talking to someone, my eyes tear up like I'm about to cry. It doesn't matter if I'm talking about something emotional, or what I cooked for dinner last night. I'm not frightened by people, I perform on stage in front of hundreds of people, and yes, it also happens then. It's strange because it really feels like I'm going to cry. I'm not in anyway depressed, I love my life and everything involved in it. I don't drink, don't smoke and don't do drugs (although I used to do all 3, five years clean). I'm 24 years old. Someone told me it's because I'm passionate about everything I do, is that possible? It's embarrassing and I never get my full point across because I feel like tears are going to start rolling down my face. Thanks for any help you can give.

It could be a subconscious response to Pavlovian stimulation. Do you remember any instances of great sorrow or sadness - particular instances that moved you to tears - that occurred in church, or in some other religious medium? If so, that could explain it. Of course, it may also be a coincidence; sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Are you certain it happens every single time you overhear someone speaking about religion?

you did not say that you feel emotional when this happens, if you do then you have to talk to someone about what the cause may be. Some people have dry eye syndrome, or high blood pressure, that can trigger the eyes to tear.....Check all out to be sure....good luck!

It can be caused by many things (dry eyes--Visine makes a eye product especially to help this, or glasses may be needed). Check with an othamologist (eye specialist). They should be able to offer a solution.

Check with your eye doc. there just might be something involving the tear ducts.
