I believe what you want to do is read your email only, not download your email into someone else computer, am I correct?
You can always use web browser to read your email, most of the email server support HTML or web based access, also don't select the remember my password, you don't want someone else peeking at your personal stuff.
In case you dont know the web address or URL of the mail server, check with the administrator, they will let you know.

The internet is not "someone elses" internet. You mean can you read your email on a computer that belongs to another person.
Yes, you can, if you have Yahoo, AOL, MSN, or any free email program, log-in to your email account and read your mail.

If it is POP mail, then you have to know the settings for your mailbox. Look in your Outlook, (Tools, accounts, settings) write it down and take it with you.
Usually, it is something like : for incoming mails: mail.xxx.com and for outgoing it will be like: smtp.xxx.com or mail.xxx.com - you obviously know your user id and pwd. You should type this in.
When you are on another person's computer, set yours up, read your mail and delete your settings later. Otherwise your mails will continue there as well.Your friend will read your mail. You do not want that.
If it is webmail, you know it is easy as getting on the internet. I don't think this is what you meant.

that's easy. I do it, every time I go to see my mother and step father. At the log in prod, type your own yahoo id and password.
