You are not addicted to chapstick. It is a general necessity for both genders as the lips tend to dry out especially in the winter and summer months.

had the same problem. over time the use a hydrating lip balm will cause the body not to produce the normal oils it usually would since the lips needs are being met. this happens with other things in the body also. like a heroin addict's body will stop producing dopamine, which causes relief from minor aches, and the addict will feel all of this and then some if not high on the "replacement" drug.
i switched to lipstick which was not quite as hydrating, which might not help if you are a guy, but basically, like anything else you are addicted to you have to wean yourself off of it.
i am still an addict. except my drug of choice is carmex.

Try to break the habit by using it once in the morning and drinking a lot of water throughout the day. Hydrating from the inside out makes your skin need less additional moisture (chapstick, moisturizer, lotions, etc.).

Chapstick actually dries out your lips, sounds wierd, but true. The mineral oils in it deplete your lips of their own ability to self moisturize so you become more dependent on it.
I use arbonne's sheer shine lip glosses. They have no mineral oils in them and really nourish your lips. I love the stuff and now even when I'm not using it, my lips feel healthier!

Why would you not want to use chapstick?! Everyone uses it - it is essential since no one wants dry lips. Most women are addicted to chapstick - I know me and my friends don't ever leave hoem without it! Don't worry about it - it's a good habit!

It's OK I have that same problem. I don't wear lipstick/gloss b/c they dry very quickly. Chapstick is very addictive but it's not a bad addiction so I wouldn't worry about it. :)

I think it might be either wheather or an allergic reaction. Maybe ask a doctor?
