sounds like you need a new pressure plate.the best thing to do is while you got everything dropped is put in a new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and also check the pilot bearing in the fly wheel, and check for a burnt flywheel and check the clutck fork.check the return spring and try adjusting the clutch.

The chances of a pressure plate sticking are between 0 and none. If the pedal does not return, check your linkage. If your pedal does return, you have no clutch disc left or the transfer case is in neutral.

could be that your clutch or pressure plate is bad....or you may have a broken input shaft on your transmission...if this happened suddenly then that would be what I'd look at. Either way you have to pull the transmission.

One more thing...is it 4x4? if so make sure your transfer case is engaged.

it should judder and shut off - i think that vehicle uses a hydraulic clutch cylinder to engage the clutch - it may have leaked out the clutch fluid and you have no pressure there - clutch pedal is soft. check and see if you see the fluid in the reservoir.
