I currently own stock in a company that is doing business in Iraq. Since, the war started, my stock has shot through the roof and I am making a small fortune. I want the fighting to continue in Iraq, as my stock will continue to rise and rise. I was brough up to believe in the "American Way", does this make me a bad person?

Let me get this straight. You are knowingly profiting off the death and suffering of other people, and you want to know if this makes you a bad person? The short answer is YES!!!! I think the fact that you question it at all tells you this is an immoral wish. To give you some perspective, a recent study by Johns Hopkins University estimates that 600,000 people have died in Iraq since the start of the war. That is the death toll from 9/11 every day for almost 7 months. Now turn your question around. If someone could invest in Al-Queda, should they hope that planes continue to get smashed into buildings day after day, so they can turn a hefty profit for themselves? I don't think so, either. I don't want to be too harsh on you here, because you show some level of conscience. Just do yourself a favor: Sell the stock, donate half the profits to a humanitarian organization doing work in the region (Doctors without borders, The Red Cross, etc), take the rest of the profits, and invest it companies that have ethical upside (there are mutual funds that are based around this), and then evaluate whether or not we should continue in Iraq without the financial baggage. Trust me, you'll sleep better. p.s. if what you are doing is "The American Way", we are morally bankrupt as a country.

Being that I just ended my first tour in Iraq the fact that you would even ask such a question makes me want to shoot something. But to answer your question; I guess that depends on how much a human life is worth to you. Or for that matter; how much an arm, or a leg is worth? I'm an E-4, which basically means that I'm on the low end of the totem-pole. But no amount of money would make seeing what I've seen worth it. You want to make money in this war then I suggest you go fight it. Otherwise, don't broadcast that you support the killing of civilians-let alone my brothers and sisters in the military, just because you like money. If you feel the need to clear your conscious I won't hesitate to point you in the direction of the closest recruitement office.

While you are at it....buy some stock in a Casket Maker - I hear Batesville is one of the biggest. The Funeral business must be booming. Don't forget the companies that make embalming fluids and grave markers.

So glad someone is getting rich......since the war started I haven't got a raise, the cost of gas is about to bankrupt me and the price of food went up because of the price of gas......

Welcome Aboard.

I'm doing OK with OLIN stock But this war is really dragging along. We need a bigger conflict to rake in the gold.

I almost bought Martian Thycol and Conveyor thinking Cruise Missiles would be a money maker. Good thing I held off.

Go big Red Go

You sick creep. People are dying, but you don't care as long as you see the green. You sound like a villian from a comic book. This is the most insulting, disgusting, post I have ever seen on here. You know what you can do with your stock, buddy.....

Business in a war that is legitimate is not unlawful. Thus, you cannot be termed as a bad person for doing business in Iraq.

Bush's Grandfather funded and aided Hitler and his Party to come into Power.

:)

Now go figure and ponder over that fact in relation to your little dilemma.
