Okay, if you are sharing uncopyrighted files across limewire it's legal, this would be like your own music videos and such, the moment that a piece of information is copyrighted then it's illegal for you to share it. Just because everyone else does it doesn't mean that you should do it. It's a matter of right and wrong. I look at it this way, I bought a cd one time and it got stolen, for the time being, i ripped a copy off the net, then I went and bought the copy at the store and rewrote the cd with my own music. So, do whatever, just don't complain if you get arrested...you know it's wrong.

Limewire is perfectly legal if you use it only to share your files and download other peoples' uncopyrighted files. It automatically becomes illegal when you share any copyrighted information. Therefore, downloading any songs you hear on the radio or computer programs is probably illegal, unless the owner of the copyright chooses to put it on Limewire, which wouldn't make any sense because the whole point of a copyright is to make money, and the copyright owner makes no money by giving the file away on Limewire.

Limewire is legal, its how you use it that makes it illegal. downloading things that other users have made is not illegal. Downloading music ripped from CD's can get you in trouble because they are copyright. Not that a gazillion different people use it and other programs like Bear share. The problem with this is that you can also download other people's virus and trojans.. so you need to be super careful. I have used limewire to find information its a great skip tracing (when someone jumps bail.. I find them) tool for the bail bondsmen.

Limewire is illegal. I am a lawyer and have defended people who have been charged by the record co.'s. All music made is a protected property right for the artist as well as the record company. Whenever you share music, that is protected by copyright, you are breaking the law. Making music is like inventing something. When you invent something you hope to make money off of it and also hope that nobody including other cmpanies will not imitate your idea and stealit. The same thing applies with music. it is an inteelectual property right. its an invention that the artist is making money off of.

i'm pretty sure that limewire itself is legal, but it's what you choose to do with limewire that makes things illegal or legal. any free downloading is illegal basically, unless you have the consent of the originator.

Limewire is just like a gun. It's only illegal if you use it wrong.

Filing sharing....Illegial or not?
But I wouldn't recommend it. When I downloaded it, the viruses killed my computer and I had to restart the entire system.
