My sister brought her dog to my house and her dog has fleas. I got bit by a flea the next day. Will the fleas stay or die without the dog to feed on?

First, tell your sister to get rid of her fleas before she brings her dog back to your house again or it will NOT be welcome! Tell her that if she doesn't know how to call her vet....IF she even has one! Someone who would allow a flea problem doesn't care too much about their pet. :|
To get rid of the fleas in YOUR house you will have to bomb the place (like some of the other posters said) a couple of times to get fleas and then hatched flea eggs.

Fleas can be very difficult to rid yourself of, and many people will call the vet's office I work at desparate to kill them all. Basically, there are three things that need to be addressed in solving a flea infestation. Number one is the external parts of the dog. This includes using shampoos formulated against fleas and applying topical preventatives such as Frontline or my fav, K9 Advantix. The second is to treat the internal parts of the dog. Through typical grooming habits, dogs will ingest adult fleas, which will then allow their young to continue the life cycle inside your dog. If you don't kill these using an ingestible medicine from your vet, then they will simply reappear later to haunt you. The third is the dog's enviroment. This means the house. Apply commercially available powders/sprays to your carpet. Each one will have different directions for use. And flea infestations aren't solved in just one day. It might take a few weeks or longer to completely kill all of them off.

no they will feed on you or any other pet they can find. With the first frost it should kill off the fleas outdoors but indoors you may need a flea bomb if you start getting bit everyday. if it was just this once and hasnt happened again i wouldnt worry about bombing the house

They can stay alive,and infest your house.Flee bomb your house and tell sister not to bring her dog for a visit next time as she is bringing problems to your house,i hate people who dont keep their animals up to scratch with things, and flees are horrible especially now with the warmer weather approaching us.they love the heat.suggest to your sister to get her doged flee"d buying a product like frontline or if her house is that infested which it probly is and she dont relise it,as if a flee can jump of a dog the dog has a few on it,get another product from the vets that can doing the beding and grounds of her house,warning it is very dangerous towards cats and concentrated solution, so read the instructions.

if the flea is a pregnant female, u will have a big flea problem and will have to have the house exterminated and then exterminated again in 7 to 10 daysto get any eggs that were layed and might have hatched, i know this sounds extreme but fleas r tenacious little buggers. good luck.

They eat people!! Vaccum and throw away the bag. Spray what you can with flea spray. Treat the dog before the nest visit. Borax sprinkled on carpets is good but test first. Vaccum and sprinkle daily until no more fleas.

They will stay as long as they have a blood bearing food source. (You) There are over the counter sprays that you use on carpet and upholstery, vacuum it up, then two weeks later retreat. It's not that hard to get rid of fleas, you just have to get right on it and do the follow up.

Well tell your sister that "you got bit and she can't bring her dog in the house because you got bit and it really, really hurt". If that dosen't work then say,"have fleas in your house because your boy-friend is comming over and there can't be any problems" but first call him and invite him over for dinner or something like that.

You'll probably need to bomb your house to get rid of the fleas. They'll just move on to biting you.
