Having all my life had more women than blokes in my home I am in the habit of returning the seat to the down position. However I am of the opinion that if it is forgotten occasionally, women in general tend to moan about it far too much sh i t happens! Face it
To all those who complain of falling in because you can't be bothered to turn the light on - YOU ONLY HAVE YOURSELF TO BLAME!
I agree that it looks better with the seat and lid down, however that can be problematic with some too, and I just have to laugh at those of you who complain of bad aiming, then can't be bothered to put the light on when necessary!

It's interesting to see that only women have answered this question so far, so from a blokes point of view.
Its a pain in the **** having to put the seat up and down all the time. I think we should leave it down all the time and see if you like it when we've come in from the pub on a Friday night and p*****d all over the seat.
You would get a nasty shock then if you weren't paying attention.

I always thought that was ridiculous, too. Until I fell in recently when I didn't feel like turning on the bathroom light. It's pretty gross to fall into a toilet in the middle of a night. If a guy doesn't put the seat down, I wonder if he flushed or if I actually got urine all over me.

Yes it is a big problem. When you are in a hurry and maybe don't want to turn the light on and you go to sit on the toilet and fall in. You wants to be in the toilet. Then who want to sit on the rim or the toilet either. The proper position for the toilet is down not up. If you guys had better aim it wouldn't be a problem, but you have a tract record of not doing sh!t right.

I seriously dislike having to touch the seat to sit on when it has been left up, but I dislike it more when the lid is left up.....the germs from a flushed toilet stay in the atmosphere for 40mins, so when I go to the loo, I always put the lid down to prevent the germs polluting the atmosphere. Am a lil bit obsessive when it comes to the lavatory dept. hehehehe

Well my suggestion would be to go to the bathroom one night in the dark with the seat up and sit down on the toilet. It's a little cold and wet. Maybe even unsanitary. It kind of puts your body in shock when your half asleep.

I wear contacts...and there is nothing worse then getting up in the middle of the night, going to sit one the pot and almost falling in. It is the grossest feeling!
I think that the reason women have a hard time with it is because they have to sit on it and it's gross to have to touch the seat! Uhh.
I do tink, however, that a lot of people make a much bigger deal out of it then is nessisary. I just put it down and gross out to myself. Bla!

Not all women have such trivial problems like that. I for one have better things to worry. How long does it take to lift a seat... jeez
