My boyfriend and I have been dating for about six months now and everywhere we go we attract the nastiest looks you have ever seen. Some even people actually come out and ask me if I couldn't find a black man to be with? The answer to that question is yes, if I wanted a black man I could have him. I am with this man because I truly love him. I feel like he completes me. I don't know why it should matter what color a person is as long as you both are happy.

Jealousy and anger at not enjoying what they so badly want.

They see a person of a different melanin count and see something sexy, but for who knows how long someone told them "Bad, bad person, you must like only those exactly like you, no matter how dull and unfortunate." So instead of saying, lucky dude or chick, they get angry at someone getting what they want and jealous that they will never be smart or brave enough to get over it.

The answer simply is that some people hate what they do not understand. They might have been raised in a time when interracial dating was frowned upon. There are some people who believe that the races should not mix either meaning that if blacks and whites begin having children then the white race, black race (whatever the case may be) will become all but extinct. There are many angles that unaproving people see it from I guess.

As long as the two of you are happy and treat one another with respect then don't worry why other people are threatened by your relationship. What you do with your lives is your business and not theirs.

You're right it's really not fair or right to you and your boyfriend. That's how people are though. Realized or not all people are biased toward somebody else even though it isn't right. You're a very luck person to've found a love.
My advice would be just to ignore the people being nasty or come up with a clever retort to leave their brains dumbfounded for a few minutes.
One thing you might want to keep in mind though is that stares aren't necessarily bad, maybe just curious or surprised. I know most of my family is pretty level headed when it comes to accepting people from all backgrounds but believe firmly in keeping our culture. They wouldn't be mad if I married someone not of my background, but they would be concerned about how our family's culture would be handed down to my kids. Not that we'r that different from the mainstream just different food and a German lilt to our English even though we don't even speak German. Weird.

Why? Fear of the unknown, ignorance, bigotry, racism, jealousy...I could go on. Basically all illogical, emotional responses to something that isn't a part of their everyday life. Rather than accepting what, for them, would be a new and different point of view, most people lash back rather than expanding their mind. Part of it is human nature, but I think most of it is the culture that we're brought up in.

You are completely in the right though. So if you love this guy, then stay with him! Don't let the constant judgements get in the way.

Ok, this is ONLY the people who have a problem with inter-racial
couples. Whites who buy into the belief that the child of a Black person and a White person is a Black child; therefore they believe they have lost something and their race is a little smaller. The Black people who have a problem are jealous, because even though most of us believe that the child of a Black/White couple is Black, most of us envy the features of that child and think he/she is better than themselves. With Mexican/Puerto Ricans, it's just a part of their culture to be with someone of your same nationality. I used to talk to a girl who was half Cuban, half Dominican. When I tried to take it to another level, even though we were the same complexion, she said she couldn't date someone outside her "race". And yes I am African if you didn't guess.

People are just plain nutty. They just can't seem to understand that we are not suppose to be separated by races but we are all suppose to be inter- connected thru love and respect for each other. If God wanted us to be separated then God would have made it impossible for us to inner-breed. And since he did not do that, mean that love and mutual respect that some of us have for each other is truly what Gods truly intended for the human race to have. And there is nothing those mentally ill people can do to change God's plan. Not that they have not tried or will stop trying, but it can only end with the total destruction of mankind By the num-nut of this world..........

To be honest its really no ones business who you are with. If you are worried about this it could put a strain on your relationship. When people ask ignorant questions such as couldn't you find a black man to be with? Why dignify it with an answer. If I were happy I would concentrate on my relationship and ignore what people say. I have first hand knowledge of this situation and when people would stare at me I would give my boyfriend a nice hug and kiss and then look at them and wink. When they see you noticing them looking they make a**es out of themselves. good luck to you

It is believed by many that people are meant to date end have relationships only with their own race. You know you should have been prepared for the looks and the comments. If you are happy, why are you so worried what other people think.

I dont know why? maybe they are afraid of change. I am happy for you. I am mixed with at least 5 different races, and so is most of the population of my country. Trindad & Tobago) but what does this have to do with mythology and folk lore.
