I like the liberal attitude of these answers but unfortunately they are all somewhat incorrect.

There were three major migrations of peoples from Asia to the western hemisphere.

The first was about 40,000 years ago - these people are the ancestors of most indigenous people of the Western Hemisphere.

About 10-12,000 years ago, the ancestors of the Navajo [Dine'], Apache, and British Columbian first nation people came over.

About 2,00 years ago, the ancestors of the Inuit came over.

There are marked differences genetically in the three groups, but otherwise they are all Asian ancestry.

Since mapping of the human genomes, it has become apparent that the concept of "race" really doesn't mean much. The genetic differences between me [West European ancestry] and an African, or a Korean, are no more than between me and my 3d cousin.
