It does not save to a folder, but to the clipboard (memory).
Open a program that you can paste something to...such as MS Word or Powerpoint. Then hit PASTE (ctrl + v).
There is your desktop image.

If you simply hit the "print screen" button it doesn't save the file in any folder. Open up a program like Paint and right click and hit paste. It simple saves it as a copy and you have to paste it somewhere

It goes to the clipboard which is not a file. You need to open a picture edition program like Paint, go to the edit menu and click paste.
