Because some people DO become perfect in some things, others have to keep trying. We all have limitations, but some of us are better in areas that others are not. We are all blessed with some specific talent, that is what makes us all interesting. That is also why some people strive to be like YOU, and others are already there in their perfection.

I think the point of the saying is that... practice makes perfect...you might never get perfect but you can get pretty darn close in certain things if you keep practicing.

better than "..i cant be perfect at it so..i might as well be horrible"

All depends on your definition of perfect. I think perfect is not 100%, but if it is a positive experience and nothing terrible happens then that is perfect. If I do my best at something, and it works, then that is perfect.

You know what? That would make a great bumper sticker! But to answer your question? I believe that isn't meant in the "literal" sense. It means like if you're not particularly great at something, you'll practice to improve it, that's all. Okay?
