no the pawn shop doesn't have to tell you anything....for a few reasons...you could be a stalker to the person who "supposingly" took something from you...and yoy may be there say under false pretenses....plus just mention that someone stole something from you and they crap their pants..because now they know (even though it was without prior knowledge) that they may have stolen merchandise..plus now they will lose out on the $$$..so what i had to do when it happened to me is I went to the police department...they sent me to a detective...he went to 2 places and found my jewelry...but he said before this "You have to promise you will press charges because this will be a lot of leg and paperwork to do if i find the stuff and you say thanks and then drop the charges"...I said "oh hell ya I'll press charges ...to think a family member came into MY house and stole because they have a problem!!?...well we went to Court and they only got a years probation and random urine tests....I wish it was like at least 3 months in jail to scare them....but go for it!

I don't think they have to tell you anything unless there is a police report.

I would contact the local police department and go from there. Don't go in and question them yourself. Have backup.
