A deep cycle battery as the name implies is capable of being fully discharged and be recharge back to a full charge condition they are excellent as a house battery in rv's and boats, they can be used as starting batteries but that is not what they are designed for. A starting battery is made for the high demand required to start a engine but dont fully discharge one because it cannot cycle and return to a full charge condition like a deep cycle.

14.6 is the charger voltage which should be used when the battery is in use (when it is being cycled - discharging and being re-charged repetitively). 13.6 is the charger voltage which should be used when the battery is on standby (when it is not being used but is still connected to something). And 12 is the normal voltage for a 6 cell lead-acid battery, not 13.6. That figure should not change significantly during the discharge cycle. At the end of a charge the cell voltage will be a little higher than 2, settling down to 2.2 unloaded. This will drop rapidly to 2 when it is loaded.

Deep cycle batteries is literally the term they are designed for. They can be cycled down to a low voltage and recharged but even deep cycle batteries should not be allowed to go lower than 50% of their capacity as it will allow excessive build up on the cell plates which over a period of time will reduce its efficiency. Standard types are used as starter batteries. They are designed to be kept fully charged and their CCA (cold cranking amps) are higher. You should not mix the two types in a system as their charging rates are different.

A standby battery is usually switched out of the electrical system and held in reserve. A deep cycle is capable of being charged and discharged over a period of time without cell failure.

I believe you mean standard.
A deep cycle is used in motor homes and the like and are not constantly recharged/ They are designed to operate on a fairly constsnt load for long periods and are recharged when they run down. They do not serve well as starting batteries.
