H.M.forces, why are the troops in dire straits when leave forces/

its a different way of life in the forces, they offer counselling for truamatic things they experience in the forces but completly leave em to it when they leave. my fella is an ex marine, n he's struggling with civvy life. i think its cos they strip you down mentally and rebuild you into what they need. which is people who can fight and kill with no emotion. it becomes a way of life, and the 'norm'

What sort of dire straits? Do you mean financially? If so then it is their own fault. They all earn very good salaries plus their clothing (uniform) plus their housing and food etc. They are much better off than people in civilian jobs. If they can`t save money for the deposit on a house for when they leave the forces. then they have been irresponsible with their money.

The army takes complete parental control over it's people and most recruits come directly from their parents home , thus they do not learn the basic social skills of survival in every day life .
It is recognised that long term high security prisoners must be given help in learning these skills before being released but the army would laugh at the suggestion that they could perhaps do with a similar program , they teach only one thing ........................

Were you talking about CH4 news, it pretty much spelled it out, in the forces they are looked after like kids, no bills, etc. So when they leave have no concept of budgeting, direct debit, house insurance council tax etc. Though from the news prog supposadly lots of new programmes have been started and the numbers are decreasing.
