It is safe, yet you need to have yur Doc calculate how much water/formula should be given. Usually they tell you to dilute formula with 11/2 times water.

I think i would get a second oppinion you are never supposed to dilute baby formula....thats what causes babies to be malnurished. I had the same problem with wic and ended up buying my own formula. I found that Carnation Good Start is the best, for some reason babies are able to digest it better. If you cant afford to buy the formula you can always try giving the baby apple juice...diluted of course. One part apple juice 2 parts water. Some people would disagree with me but this is what i was told to do by my doctor. Just dont replace the babies formula with the apple juice. I would only give it to them once a day. Hope that helps!

I don't think that's a good idea to dilute his formula with more water than necessary because then you'll wash out most of the nutrients he needs. On the label of the can (either powder or concentrate) it specifically says "Your baby's health depends on carefully following the instructions.....Failure to follow these instructions could result in severe harm." WIC usually gives Enfamil Lipil w/ Iron as the first choice. I know because I also have WIC and have used them with ALL 3 of my children who all drank the iron formula. If you didn't start out with the iron formula, the only way they might change his milk is if you get a note from your doctor saying to change it. Then take the note to your next WIC appointment. I hope I was able to help you in this matter.

OK first off the formula has directions for a reason follow the directions to the letter if you don't you baby will not get the vitamins it needs. Also if hes constipated just incorporate a little like 2 oz of sugar water in his diet too much will hurt him so like i said 2oz at max. That should stop the constipation. If not then they make baby suppositories that are glycerin and will not hurt the baby at all.NEVER EVER dilute formula you will mess up the balance the formula has for a reason..

How old is the baby? I had this problem with my last two babies when they were in their really newborn stage, like a week old. You can also use prune juice and just make three ounces of formula and mix in an ounce of prune juice with it. Works like a CHARM!!! I did this with my son once a day for about a week until he started pooping regular and didn't need it anymore.
Diluting would work too, but I just wanted to share what worked for me.

If you dilute the formula then your babies not getting all the nutrients it needs, a doctor should give you ideas or medicine for the baby, I was always told to give them sugar water, and becareful because they can choke on it, my daughter use to be constipated and the doctor gave me supositories.which as soon as you put it up there butt, they usually poop because they just need that touch.

Yes this should be safe to do. I have also done the samething with my son's formula. I just took about 1/2 of a scoup away from my son's formula. One other thing you may if you have started your baby on solid foods is to give your baby some baby food apples. It seems to help my son.

Try switching formulas.......I know most doctors have recommended NESTLE GOOD START becuz it's easier to digest for newborns and infants.
And do not dilute with milk or formula
PLease read the following link
