I want to see good football played by good sportsmen and what I see is crap. Any suggestions? If these kids are being promised a major in NFL, why aren't they being coached to play in a way that makes them a valuable team member instead of a showboat attitude on cleats? And why don't they insist on that type of coaching?

Simple take the power out of the Presidents hands. Meaning bring back athletic dorms so coaches can keep track of the players. Let the athletic director be the athletic director and control the athletic department. How can we as non players just alums and fans influence the direction of division 1 athletics. Write a letter not an e-mail to your school, voice your opinion over talk radio. Administrations do pay attention to those shows even though they won't admit it and finally quit buying tickets, quit buying the merchandise from your favorite team.

D-1 head coaches will never be able to fully concentrate on coaching - fact of life. They're hardly parole officers since the kids get out of hand in spite of them. They are big time fund raisers, but you want the $$$ to get the things you can for your team. And how much do they really coach? A good D-1 football team comes equipped with 10-12 six figure earning assistants to cover every position, conditioning, recruiting, and such. So the kids are getting coached, just not by the Bowdens and Paternos of the world.
