Yes, it is I am on it now and it has made me start having periods. The Glocopahge causes ur body to use the insulin it produces. Because with PCOS ur body produces to much and does not know how to use it. I had not had periods for 6 months and did not know what it was. So I went to the doc did blood work and I have PCOS she put me on the med and now I am having normal period after taking it. It worked me in about 2 mths

I have PCOS( 7 years since diagnosis) and glucophage is used b/c someone with PCOS doesnt' process sugar the way they are supposed to. It is a big catch 22 cycle. Too much estrogen, sugar gets automatically stored as fat. PCOS does not mean diabetic usually someone with PCOS pancreas usually works fine. Glucophage works to help the body process the sugar and keep the weight down.

nope not strange at all PCOS is caused by insulin in balances or insulin Resistance glucophage often helps about 70% of PCOS women regulate cycles and lose weight. There is still women thou that is dose nothing for. Make perfect sence you fix the inslin issue that causes the ovary issue whoo no more problems. I took glucophage for years for my PCOS never did crap for me. I don't think the logic behind the med is strange. It can increase fertility. It only made me poop too much.

Glucophage is used to treat PCOS as some of the hormonal changes that happen with diabeties occur with PCOS and Glucophage helps to fix these problems. Glucophage treatment helps on liver problems as well.

Drugs are strange. In the early 80's I was infertile and wanted a baby. I was given clomid as a fertility drug. It is now used as a contraceptive!
Sometimes we do not know as much as we think we do about the human body, but we have to keep trying to see what works.
I hope the drug helps your PCOS. (which wasnt even recognized as a disease until recently.)

Were you given this for conceiving? Yes, it is also used for PCOS, why is that strange? It helps regulate hormones, including estrogen, which may help conception. Many drugs are multi-purpose. Viagra was originally a heart medication.
