i was just watching X-men the last stand. and i notice that it's like homosexuality and mutants are quite similiar.

1) People hated and feared them.
2) some believes them to be a disease
3) there is a lot of insecurities between the people.

now only difference is that x-men are ones with powers. homosexuals are just human.

Actually, we do have special powers, which is why straight people are so afraid of us.

What powers you may ask?

We have the power to bend gender sterotypes to our will. We're more of our own sex than straight people will ever be, and more of the opposite sex than a straight person will ever have.

We have power over the rational minds of our adversaries. We can inflame Christian fundamentalists to the point where they can't make a logical argument without referring to some old book.

We have the power of fadishness. We can inspire straight people to see the beauty in common, everyday items.

We have power over light and water. We can create rainbows wherever we go. I personally can shoot them out my backside.

We have power over our own happiness and freedom. No matter how many times our freedoms are subjugated by the narrow-minded (both gay and straight) we bounce back and smile, and keep going.

Completely.
And it's a sub-plot that continues through all three XMEN movies.

You'll also see that some like their difference, but some hate it and want desperately to change and try everything they can to do so.

These kids have their own school with teachers who've been there and understand them, just like some cities have triangle program classrooms for queer kids who need alternatives to mainstream schools. It empowers them.

There are a number of other related themes, also.

There is a correlation. The scene in the second one where the ice guy tells his family about his powers was modeled after a coming out scenario. Ian Kellen even helped set the scene by explaining how it was for him.

In a similiar vein, I always thought you could tell that the lyrics to Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" were written by a gay man. In the song "Kill the Beast" we hear:

"We don't like what we don't understand -- in fact, it scares us."

That's homphobia in a nutshell, no?

I thought the same thing about X-Men; wouldn't it be cool if LGBTs had super powers too?

I was watching it with some friends that are gay too, and when ice man's mom asked him: Have you tried not to be...you know...mutant? This rang so many bells. lol
It is a clear interpretation of our society and its fear and lack of understanding anything different .

I have always thought that myself, in fact I have been waiting for Magneto to come out...he is played by Sir Ian McKellan after all. I think a gay X-men (or woman) would be awesome!

Yes this is a social commentation that was made when it first come out. I think the director even made some comment about it. It is good that you picked up on it though it shows how effective the message was.

i noticed the same thing - it shows that the X-men are different but very important to society. even the scene where that father disowns his son for letting his wings grow out as if he would love him if he hid who he really was

Exactly HOW many times have you watched X-men?

You should write an essay about this and get it published.
