I would say that your mother should get an attoney, not you. Many times the kids feel that they are owed the money and that is not the case. Child support money is for the best welfare of the child. For food, clothing, housing, and extra-curricular activities. Now, if your mother is desceased, you COULD get a family attorney. You will have to have the court papers and the judges orders of the support. Many times if parents don't get to see their children enough they won't pay, that is most often selfish, but when the person is ordered to pay and they get less than half time visitation they will pay. IF they don't then many times they would be considered a dead beat. Take my advice and don't try to get the support money from almost 20 years if you know that he definately will NOT pay, but you want to give it a fair chance then go ahead. Chances are, that the money you get in the past due support will just be the money to pay the attorney with. Good Luck!

Yes, you can get child support from him because he still owes you money from when you where little, unless he has nothing, jobless, or even if he is getting paid under the table..and if they cant find him that will be a problem as well. if you would like. You can get a lawyer But it is going to be expensive. You can go to a family and law court house from your city and open up a case with them. I'm not sure how your city works but hopefully they will have a department in the court house where they can give you free legal advice and they could also help you fill out the paper work you would need in order to open a case up......Other than that if you know where he is at it will be easier than not knowing where your father is at....Good luck

Something like this you definitely need a lawyer. If he was ordered
by court to pay child support, then he should in fact pay back every penny owed. My daughters dad is also a dead beat dad
and child support wrote to me asking me if I knew were his where
about. I in fact did not, but I did tell them I did find his last known
address. Which belonged to his sisters. Anyways I told them that
I found it in the inter net, and if I could find it so can they. All they
have do is a little searching they have the right access to this kind
of stuff. So they did and found him. Now he's paying back pay
for my daughter. Which she is now 22 years old. So you should in fact look into it. If a man can lay in bed and create a child he should take responsibility and pay up. Lot of then are COWARDS. THOSE KINDS OF GUYS SHOULD BE BLESSED
STERILE.

You need to get a copy of your parents divorce decree with the child support obligations written and order and signed by the judge. This is a matter of public record so if you MOM has lost her copy then go to the county clerks office where the divorce was obtained and get one.
You can petition the courts to have this dead beat dad served with papers petitioning your case as a recipient to the non-payment of child support on your behalf. You will need a good family law lawyer one that has BALLS....and will go for the jugular so to speak. Once you've received judgment have this mans wage assignment garnished and have his taxes for federal and state garnished as well. WHY wasn't your MOM receiving his TAX returns each year due to his non -payment of support?
Good luck...Sic the judge on this DEAD BEAT losing low life DAD of yours!

back pay is what he owes you and yes you can collect every penny of it. check w/ the state in which you live to see if an enforcement division of child support exists. another route would be an attorney but you would have to pay a certain percentage of your support if you get any to that attorney. also, you can seek having his wages garnished if you know where he is employed

The only one that can help you answer that question is a family law attorney. Anyone else who tries will just confuse you. Seek help from an attorney.
