Big items: California King Bed, Big Couch, 2 chests of drawers, dining table, TV, electric wood stove. Any ideas? Should I just sale all? Or move all?

This is going to depend on what sort of vehicle you have. If you have one capable of towing a trailer, then I would go to the local Uhaul and rent a trailer large enough to fit everything you own in. What won't fit...SELL...then buy new stuff when you get there. If you are really attached to some of your furniture then you might just have to rent a truck and tow your car. The trucks aren't hard to drive but you'll need lots of gas money and be prepared to pay a high dollar amount on the rental.

When I moved from Boston to Little Rock I sold everything that wouldn't fit in the back of my Cherokee or in the trailer I got from UHaul. I made enough off the sale of my old stuff at the yard sale to pay for my gas and buy some pretty decent stuff once I got here.

If you are moving for a job then I would try to get your employer to help pay for the move.

Good luck with the move and have a safe trip!

If you have a pickup or SUV it would be very handy to rent a U-Haul trailer and load your stuff in and pull it yourself. You can't get much money selling these item and then turn around and have to buy replacements when you get to So. Carolina. Check it out...

2 thoughts -- if it isn't anything really great that you can't live without, it's probably most cost effective to sell it all and buy new . . . or new used . . . furniture when you get to S.C. Another somewhat off the wall possibility is to buy a cheap old truck that's mechanically good . . . and then sell IT when you get everything moved to S.C.
