I'm leasing a 2006 Mazda 3 for $317 a month. I put down $5000 at the time but had interest still left over on my 2004 Mazda 3. The whole point of trading in was to lower the payments. I went from $420 to $317, which helped but I'm now in college & am only able to work 4 days a week. My job doesn't give too many hours to part-time people & recently, they've been cutting hours for part-timers. I don't want to quit because it's a good paying job & I doubt I could get paid the same elsewhere. I also have a cell phone bill to pay. Thankfully though, my grandmother has taken over my insurance payments, so that saves me about $180 a month. Even though I'm only dishing out about $400 a month, I barely make $250 a pay check. That doesn't include money on gas & whatever else. I'd like to move out next summer to attend a different school but how in the world do I try & save money? What can I do about my car situation & work situation? I'm not broke but I'm just barely making it!

You don't have it that bad if your driving a 2006 Mazda. Perhaps you need to downgrade a bit and set your expectations a little lower. College life certainly isn't easy and it certainly isn't cheap either. If necessary, I know it's hard with all your study and stuff, but you may need to get a second job. You could also consider losing your cell phone and just using your land line. I know that it would probably be worse than cutting off your right arm but it would save you some cash.

The car was way too much for you. Reconsider the cell phone and if you can get a car in your price range then do it. Cell phones are not lifelines. The world did turn before them. 5000.00 would have bought a very nice dependable used car all by itself. You're insurance payments would be much less and you could save all that. You sound very young to have all this to worry about. All I can say is you'll have to be broke until you pay for all this stuff you already bought. Going into debt is playing a game by someone elses rules, don't be surprised if they win.

Go to the School Counselor or whoever you think can help you with this dilemma. Tell them you are having a difficult time coming up with the money for college and was wondering if they had any way they could help. some school let you work it off. Try it..Check out your cell bill and see if you can get a upgrade that won't cost you as much.

Sorry to say, but welcome to the real world. Keep the job maybe it will pick up and they may offer extra hours. Try working the weekends. Try asking parents, friends and family if they need help because you are trying to earn extra money. Find extra job delivering papers or setting up demos in stores . Look at what you spend your money on and decide what is necessary and what's not. If you still can't do it maybe you have to stay and finish school there.

You should get someone to move into your basement or an extra room in your apartment or something so that they can pay half the check each month. That should help. You could also try living off of raman noodles. Hey! What if it works!?! lololol

Sounds like you need a budget! take note of your expenses, cut corners if you have to in order to save $$$. Budgeting should do the trick but you have to be willing to follow it precisely

okay this is gonna sound boring but it works..........you have to sit down with a pen and paper and figure out wat you spent on each thing a month this includes food and gas. then figure out wat ur making....and if the spending part is less than the making then ur in good shape and u should put aways at least 10 dollars a week but if its not then you have to try and cut back on things..if you still need help feel free to email me and i can give you details
