When the number next to the variable is negative, you change the direction of the inequality when you divide. So if you had
-2x < 10, the answer is x > -5.
Also, if -3x > -18, the answer is x < 6.
You only change the symbol if the number by "x" is negative.
So if 5x < -40, the answer is x < -8.

The reason you do this is that dividing by a negative means you're jumping from one side of the number line to the other, where numbers go in the opposite direction. As an example, consider temperature. It should make sense that 10 degrees is COLDER ( less than) 30 degrees. If you divide both temperatures by -2, though, you get -5 degrees and -15 degrees. 5 below zero is WARMER (greater than) 15 below zero.

I know one of the rules with inequalities is that if you multiply by a negative, you switch the sign - so with
-0.1t>3
Multiply both sides by -10 to get a range for t -
-0.1x-10 = 1
3x-10 = -30
then, swap from < to > ...
t<-30

Other than that, I think you can just multiply or divide both sides of the inequation by a number to get the range for your variable
